Two parks do the heavy lifting: Gezi Park beside Taksim Square for a quick pause, and Macka Democracy Park for a proper walk under trees, with the TF1 cable car strung above it. Everything else nearby is pocket-sized.
Gezi Park: the five-minute escape
Gezi Park is the nearest green to the hotel, up the steps on the north edge of Taksim Square. Wikipedia's entry calls it one of the last green spaces left in Beyoglu, laid out as a public park in 1940 on the site of the old artillery barracks. Expect formal rows of plane trees, benches, a playground and constant gentle foot traffic rather than lawns to sprawl on. Macka Democracy Park: the real lungs

Walk north along Cumhuriyet Caddesi and bear right past Taskisla and the ground falls away into Macka Democracy Park, a valley of lawns and winding paths between Taksim and Nisantasi. The municipality's visit.istanbul page singles out the park's most striking feature: the cable car running overhead between Macka and Taskisla. Allow about ten minutes on foot from the hotel to the Taskisla entrance at an easy pace.
This is where the neighborhood runs, walks dogs and picnics. Slopes are real, so the classic loop is to enter high at Taskisla, wander downhill through the valley, and ride the gondola back up.
The TF1 gondola over the trees
The TF1 Macka-Taskisla line spans 333.5 meters across the park and carries 12 passengers per direction, per Metro Istanbul. Cars come roughly every five minutes and the ride accepts Istanbulkart like any metro turnstile. It began as a link between two university campuses and remains the cheapest aerial view in the city center: treetops below, Bosphorus glimpses ahead.
